Dear Ms. Miller,
On behalf of Hometime Outlet, I'm very sorry to hear that you experienced difficulties with your recently purchased microwave, model 4-600, from Owada Electronics. According to your complaint, the interior plate spins while in use but the food actually does not heat up. Unfortunately, there have been a number of complaints about this particular device as well as others made by the same manufacturer. As we take customer satisfaction very seriously, we no longer carry products made by Owada Electronics.
We would like to send you a substitute device that is of comparable size and slightly higher value - Turbo Chrome Microwave from Franco, Inc. The item will be shipped to you free of charge. We hope that you find this arrangement suitable and that you continue to shop at Hometime Outlet for all your household needs.
Warmest regards,
Erica Dolan

Today’s discussion is to cover plans for our annual skills workshop to be held on August 10.
Theresa Gardner
12:14 P.M.
You were working at the Vanton branch during this event last August, weren’t you, Vera?
Vera Anthony
12:17 P.M.
Yes, I was. That’s why I’m excited to see how professional development events are handled here at the Dayton branch.
Theresa Gardner
12:18 P.M.
Well, you’d better sign up soon. The main conference room can only accommodate 150 people.
Madeline Gray
12:19 P.M.
That’s a good reminder. Moving on, there have been some new developments. First of all, Colin Timmons has finally selected the topic of his small group discussion, hasn’t he?
Vera Anthony
12:19 P.M.
Yes. He e-mailed me the title. It’s called “E-mail Tools to Save You Time.” That can be added to the schedule now.
Madeline Gray
12:21 P.M.
I also spoke to Nijita Makino, who is scheduled to speak in the morning, but can only come in the afternoon. l’d rather change her time than cancel her presentation, but what do you think?
Theresa Gardner
12:22 P.M.
Why don’t we just have Marco Hoch trade times with her? That should solve the problem.
Vera Anthony
12:23 P.M.
That will work. I know that Marco will be present all day.
Madeline Gray
12:24 P.M.
Then we’re all in agreement. I’ll ask Marco about swapping times.

Dear Mr. Patel,
We are very excited that you have accepted our offer to participate in the Public Astronomy Awareness Conference. This is a unique opportunity for you to speak to some of the leading figures in the field and also to help us raise awareness of our discipline with the general public. The event runs from June 11 to June 15, and your main presentation is scheduled for June 14 in the main auditorium. The organizers would like to extend an invitation for you to stay free of charge at the Gordon Convention Center's hotel facility at 3708 Farland Street. You can check in after 4 P.M. on June 10 and your checkout time will be 1 P.M. on June 15.
— [1] — Be sure to include any slides you wish to have included. This is so we can provide subtitles on the screen for those who are hard of hearing. — [2] — We also encourage you to attend the other lectures, such as those on astrophysics and asteroid identification, which are taking place in the side rooms and secondary hall.
As we previously discussed, on June 13 you will also run a workshop for amateurs on how to operate a telescope. — [3] — I was told by your university department colleague James Preston that you ran a similar workshop for your local youth dub. — [4] — As we have a number of schoolchildren coming that day, we are planning to set up the equipment on the roof of the hotel's attached restaurant.
If you have any questions related to the conference, please e-mail me or call me at (013) 278- 5532.
Best regards,

Subject: Personal access code application
Dear Ms. Akimoto,
I am pleased to inform you that you are now authorized to access Laboratory B. Your temporary personal access code is 8541.
When entering the laboratory, hold your badge close to the reader at the main entrance and wait for the yellow light to turn on. Next, enter your personal access code. The yellow light will turn green once you enter the valid code. You will hear a beeping sound if the code is keyed in inaccurately. Bear in mind that you have only three opportunities to enter the correct code. The system will lock you out after three consecutive entries of incorrect codes. We can, however, reset your code anytime. All you have to do is present your employee identification card to our staff.
Please observe safety guidelines while inside the laboratory. If you encounter emergencies or any issues that need immediate response, please call the number printed on the back of your access badge and we will respond to you in a timely manner.
Note that your access code is valid only until two days after the end of your assignment.

Oakland, CA 94612
Dear Mr. Ernesto,
Thank you for renewing your membership to The National Botanical Garden Society. You will find enclosed the latest copy of our magazine along with details of the benefits that membership provides this year.
I am also writing to request your support against a proposal by the National Parkland Administration to out the funding to our Ark Project. The Ark Project, as you know, was founded to create and maintain copies of every plant in the country to help protect and preserve our botanical heritage. This proposed drop in financial support could result in the closure of our Ark Center.
You will find a petition form online at www.nbgsociety.com/petition, but you are also encouraged to contact your congressperson directly to raise your voice against this policy change. We firmly believe the work we do concerns everyone.
Thank you in advance for your support in this important matter.
Yours sincerely,
Erin Lloyd

Subject: Apartment for rent
Dear Mr. Norcross,
I am writing to you about the three-bedroom apartment that you have listed online. I am interested in seeing the property. It’s located exactly halfway between my office and my husband’s and I prefer to live in units that are high in the building.
It’s almost perfect, although the $1,300 price is a little above my preferred budget. This isn’t the only concern that I would like to discuss with you. For instance, we would need a second parking space, and I wonder if I’ll be allowed to do that. My husband and I would like to look at the apartment and discuss a few matters. Would tonight be convenient for you? We are available anytime after 7 P.M.
Thank you in advance,
Anna Groves

Dear Martin Garcia,
Recently, I purchased several movies through your online service. I was very pleased when I received my DVDs five days after I ordered them. The problem is that when I was checking the receipt inside the box, I realized that I was overcharged.
I followed the instructions on your Web site and called your customer service department to request a full refund. However, the person I spoke to advised me that I must submit a formal request in writing to you before I could be reimbursed. I was also told to attach a copy of the receipt, which I have done.
I hope that you can settle this issue quickly.
Thank you,
Dianne Taylor
