So, ideally, maintaining a varied diet is enough to satisfy the nutritional requirements of adults aged 65 and older. However, some seniors may find this difficult to do, as they lack time and find preparing nutritious meals to be too challenging. In such cases, many doctors agree that taking vitamins and other supplements may be helpful. Even so, physicians believe that these supplements should be carefully regulated so as not to cause unintended harm. According to a controlled study by the Research Institute for Aging, some vitamins and minerals can be toxic when ingested in large amounts. For this reason, getting the advice of a trusted and qualified physician before beginning a vitamin regimen is recommended.
