Edinburgh Museum Wins Prestigious Design Award
August 8. Edinburgh - The Edinburgh Museum has won first place in the Publication Design Contest, sponsored annually by the European Museum Association, for its current exhibition, “Ancient Civilizations: Anthropological Artifacts and their stories”. The cover of the program for the exhibit features a photo montage of rock carvings from 10,000 B.C. The photographs were taken by renowned photographer, Alicia Coughlin.
This year, the Publication Design Contest attracted 211 submissions by 53 museums across Europe. Entries included books, calendars, educational materials, invitations, brochures, newsletters, posters, and web-sites. Past winners have included Madrid Museum in Spain, for “Planets from Beyond” catalog exhibition and Dusseldorf Museum in Belgium, for its “Asian Temples” exhibit.
“Ancient Civilizations” was organized by museum director Morgan Atwater and designed by artist Melvin Monroe. The Edinburgh Museum is located just a few blocks from City Hall and is open on Tuesday through Saturday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. It is closed on Mondays, Sundays, and on all national holidays. The upcoming exhibit, “The Future is Now” features high tech methods used to extract and study fossils and bones. For more information, contact us now!!!
