Arlene Foster 

Representative of District 4 (district map) 

Though in her first term with the city council, Arlene has spent her entire career in public service. She was raised and attended university in Zantry. After 

graduating with a degree in political science, she first worked at a nonprofit 

organization based in Venkins that promotes the building of affordable housing. She then moved to ShaIkon to become part of former council member Mitchell Blair's staff. In her time in that role, she assisted with projects such as the SETIP package of tax incentives for making environmentally-friendly improvements to residential and commercial properties. 

Since joining the council, Arlene has focused on improving traffic congestion 

issues across ShaIkon, including by planning the widening of Young Avenue. She is dedicated to maintaining open lines of communication with her constituents and reserves Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons exclusively for meetings with the public.

Director Buchanan passed your inquiry on to me, as my team handles road signs in the city. 

To answer your main question-yes, there would be limitations on the design of the sign. It must be either the style of general traffic signs (green with white lettering) or the style of Shalkon city informational signs (light gold with white lettering and the city logo). Also, note that the latter option is only available for signs that stand on one side of the road. 

I'd be happy to meet with you this week to discuss these options in more detail. I'm free on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Which would you prefer?

City Names Stretch of Webster Road after Cummings 

(September 29)-A section of Webster Road between Coleman Street and Young Avenue has been co-named in honor of Frances Cummings, Shalkon's first female mayor. 

Shalkon city council member Arlene Foster, who proposed the tribute, gathered with members of the late Mayor Cummings's family and others near the intersection of Webster Road and Coleman Street yesterday for a small unveiling ceremony. 

The crowd cheered as a tarp was pulled off a new sign bridge that spans Webster Road and proclaims the subsequent half-mile of road to be "Frances Cummings Way". This section of road was chosen because of its proximity to Talmage Park, which Mayor Cummings famously revitalized during her tenure in office. 

Council member Foster and Edmund Cummings, Mayor Cummings's son, gave speeches highlighting the mayor's positive impact on Shalkon.
