Dear Ms. Lincoln;
I regret to inform you that I will not be able to fulfill my duties as an instructor at the Winston Academy this summer, while I had intended to be here in Knoxville for the entire summer so that I could teach class and complete my book; I have been instructed by the dean at my university that my services are required on campus. Apparently; one of the summer school instructors at my college suddenly fell ill and will be hospitalized for three months. He was scheduled to teach two summer school classes. The English Department has been unable to find a replacement instructor in the local area; so my dean has insisted that I return to Charlotte to teach in his place. I truly feel bad as I was looking forward to having my first class at the Winston Academy. I apologize for the inconvenience and hope you have enough time to find a suitable replacement.
Sincerely,
Stan Morris

Subject: Summer Schedule
Date: May 20
Dear Ms. Solo,
You recently inquired if David Powell was going to be an instructor at the academy this year, and I responded that he would not. However, there has been a sudden change in the schedule as one of our instructors will not be able to teach a class this summer. As a result, Mr. Powell is going to be an instructor at the Winston Academy this summer. He will be teaching a class on how to write a proper essay. I believe you expressed an interest in learning about that, so this would be the perfect opportunity to do so. There are currently 5 seats available for the class, so I suggest that you hurry to enroll as Mr. Powell is popular with many students here. They may rush to register for the class once they find out he is teaching it.
Sincerely,
Susan Lincoln
