  • The sum of the present ages of a father and his son is 60 years.
Question 1:
The sum of the present ages of a father and his son is 60 years. Six years ago, father's age was five times the age of the son.
After 6 years, son's age will be:
A. 20 years
Feedback Let the present age of father = x years.
Given,present ages offather + Son = 60 years
=> Present age of son = 60 -present age offather =60 - x
Given Six years ago,father's age = 5 * (son's age)
=> x - 6 = 5 * (60 - x -6)
=> x - 6 = 5 * (54 - x)
=> x - 6 = 270 - 5x
=> x + 5x = 270 + 6
=> 6x = 276
=> x = 46
So,present age of father = x years = 46 years.
present age of Son= 60 -x = (60 - 46) = 14 years
After 6 years,age of Son = 14 + 6 = 20 years.
B. 14 years
C. 12 years
