NOTICE OF STREET TREE TRIMMING
The trees on your street will be trimmed between the hours of 8 A.M. and 5 P.M. on June 28-29. Branches hanging less than thirteen feet above the street or eight feet above the sidewalk will be trimmed or removed.
The Dawston Parks Department regularly performs this work in city parks and adjacent streets in order to improve the trees' structural stability and protect them from damage caused by possible breakages. A certified tree care professional supervises our crew to make certain that the work is done properly.
Please keep the street clear on these days by parking automobiles in driveways or on other streets. Also, we ask for your understanding regarding the loud noise made by the trimming machinery. |
Jody Rodriguez (1:43 P.M.) Grady, are you on the construction site right now? |
Grady Webb (1:44 P.M.) Yes, I'm over on the north side talking to the electrical team. What's up? |
Jody Rodriguez (1:44 P.M.) I wanted to check with you that it's all right to send up the RBX80. |
Grady Webb (1:45 P.M.) The RBX80? I'm sorry, but I don't know what that is. |
Jody Rodriguez (1:46 P.M.) Oh, it's a new technology. It's a drone aircraft equipped with cameras. We're going to fly it around the outsides of the building to make sure there are no problems in the walls that have been put up so far. |
Grady Webb (1:47 P.M.) Ah, I see. That should be fine, but please give advance notice to the teams that are working on any of the floors you'll be looking at especially the high ones. It could be dangerous to surprise them. |
Jody Rodriguez (1:48 P.M.) I'll send out a group text to the team leaders now. |
The Forance Company Announcing: the Blue Sky Line of Greeting Cards
When Rufus Forance started The Forance Company more than 70 years ago to publish a lifestyle magazine, he did not imagine what it would become. Rufus only began making greeting cards to earn extra profit via his printing presses. However, the cards, designed by the magazine's staff artists, were an instant success, and Rufus soon decided to focus exclusively on them. Since then, The Forance Company has become one of the nation's most trusted sources of beautiful, thoughtful greeting cards.
Now, The Forance Company is proud to add a new line of cards to our catalog: the Blue Sky line. Blue Sky cards are for sending heartfelt messages of love, support, and friendship in everyday life. Their simple, charming style is designed to put the focus on the sender's words. Instead of waiting for a birthday or holiday, let people know you care about them right now. Visit any major stationery store to browse the Blue Sky line today. |
From: Simon Burgess To: Viola McDonald Subject: Re: Inquiry Date: July 30 Dear Ms. McDonald, Thank you for your inquiry regarding Rolent smart glass. From what you wrote, I believe that our RC-2 Glass would be an excellent fit for your project. In its transparent setting, it will eliminate the dark, cramped feeling you describe your building as having, and in its opaque "frosted" setting, it will provide your conference rooms, copy rooms, etc. with the same privacy you currently enjoy. I can also address your concern about cost. Though smart glass does require electric power to switch settings, it does not need electricity to maintain either setting. None of our many satisfied clients have found it to have a significant impact on their utility bills. I would be happy to visit your site to provide more information on RC-2 Glass and suggestions on its best use in your project. If you are interested, please reply to this e-mail or call me at 555-0196. Sincerely, Simon Burgess Sales Associate, Rolent Ltd. |

To: Louise Anderson From: Jesse Reed Subject: Panel discussion invitation Date: 18 June
Dear Ms. Anderson, Hello. My name is Jesse Reed, and I am one of the organizers of IT Healthlink. IT Healthlink has become one of the UK's most exciting conferences on information technology in healthcare, bringing together hundreds of medical care providers, entrepreneurs, investors, government representatives, and others annually. -[1]-. We are currently seeking speakers and panelists for this year's conference, which will be held in London's Fiore Hall on 5-7 October. The particular session I am contacting you about is an hour-long panel discussion titled "The Next Generation of Health Tech". -[2]-. We have already engaged Clive Minamore, Kwame Obeng, Logan Norwick, and Andrew Earle, four of the industry's most innovative young minds, to participate. However, as you might have realized immediately, there is something missing from that group - a female perspective. So I asked around my network for recommendations, and Harold Kirby said he was very impressed with your speech at Health Liverpool last year. -[3]-. After watching the video of it that is available online, I am too. It would be an honor if you would join our panel to share your inventive ideas with our attendees. If you are interested, all you need to do at this stage is respond to this e-mail with your affirmative answer and, for our Web site, a professional headshot and your official job title. I would send you the speaking agreement with all of the details of the event by the end of this month. -[4]-. Alternatively, if you have any questions or concerns, you can reply to this e-mail or call me at 0207043 5214 during business hours. I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely, Jesse Reed |
Auckland Business News (19 February) - Christine Redman recently found herself unable to pay for the iced latte she had ordered at her favorite coffee shop-even though she had plenty of cash. "They'd made the switch to electronic payments a few weeks before," Ms. Redman explained. "But that day, I forgot to bring my debit card. It was embarrassing." The coffee shop, Seeley's Beans, is one of several New Zealand retailers that have stopped accepting cash at their stores. Supporters of the trend say that electronic payments have benefits like faster transactions, error-free record-keeping, and less handling of potentially-unsanitary bills and coins. Seeley's Beans spokesperson Sharon Wright said, "It was an easy choice, frankly." Consumers, however, are not convinced. Although there has been a steady move toward using cards and apps instead of paper money, many still prefer to use cash or at least to have the option of doing so. "For me, it's about privacy. I wouldn't go to a cashless store, because I don't like the credit card company knowing everything I buy," said Auckland citizen Chad Williams. Similar consumer resistance has led some city governments in the United States to prohibit businesses from going cashless. Retail analyst Sang-Wook Jung believes that could happen here as well, but not right away. "At this point, there are only a few cashless places, so it's not a big inconvenience. But if a lot of stores start to switch over, we may see a backlash too." Have you visited a cashless store? Tell us about it in the comments! (Note that commenters must create an Auckland Tribune account.) |
Monica Dietrich [2:11 P.M.] | Great news! A representative from Ramona Enterprises has finally agreed to do an interview with me! |
Tao Hou [2:12 P.M.] | That's wonderful! Our readers will be thrilled to get some insights into one of the fastest-growing software companies in the industry. When will you go there? |
Monica Dietrich [2:14 P.M.] | Next Monday at 2 P.M. That doesn't give me much time to prepare, and I've only been given a one-hour time slot, but I'll take what I can get. |
Roxanne Toro [2:16 P.M.] | Jacques, are you free to go with Monica and take pictures? |
Monica Dietrich [2:17 P.M.] | Actually, I'm the only one who will be allowed in the offices. The company said it prefers to supply its own pictures. |
Jacques Favreau [2:18 P.M.] | That's a shame. I would love to see their offices. I heard that employees are allowed to personalize their workspaces, so you see everything from standing desks with treadmills to recliner chairs. |
Monica Dietrich [2:19 P.M.] | I'll be sure to let you know if that's true! |
Roxanne Toro [2:22 P.M.] | Will you have the article ready in time for this month's issue? The deadline is March 18, just two days after you visit Ramona Enterprises. |
Monica Dietrich [2:23 P.M.] | I don't think that's a good idea. |
Tao Hou [2:24 P.M.] | I agree. Quality has to be the top priority. |
From: Megan Danner To: Liling Yang Subject: Request Date: 3 September Attachment: 07 files
Dear Professor Yang,
Hello! I hope this e-mail finds you well. I'm writing to take you up on the offer you made when I graduated last summer. In particular, I've decided to enter the Queensland Young Designers Contest, and I'm hoping that you'll review my submission before I turn it in.
I suspect you're already familiar with the contest, but let me give you an overview just in case. It's organised by the Queensland Fashion Council in order to support talented young designers. The first prize winner is featured in the council yearbook, but I'm just hoping for one of the top five spots, as all of them come with an invitation to the council's yearly fashion show. As for the entries, contestants have to submit three collections. Each collection consists of sketches of three clothing designs connected by a creative concept chosen by the applicant.
So, I'm sending you my sketches and the accompanying explanations of the creative concepts I chose. I've also included a document listing the judging criteria, for reference. I know you are busy, but I would be very grateful if you could take a look at these materials sometime before 10 September and share any comments that come to mind. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
Sincerely,
Megan |
Queensland Young Designers Contest Award Winner Announced
BRISBANE (12 December)-The Queensland Fashion Council (QFC) revealed the winner of its fourth annual contest for young fashion designers yesterday. Jacquelyn Abbot, an assistant buyer at Sandpace Apparel and a recent graduate of Wilburt University, took first place among nearly 500 entrants.
The QFC has over 3,000 members, including designers, other industry employees, and investors, and the judges committee for the Queensland Young Designers Contest consists of some of the top names in eastern Australian fashion.
Ms. Abbot's design entry, which embodied the concepts "Fresh", "Reflections", and "Flight", impressed the judges with its original interpretations of classic styles. Gary Odell, the chair of the committee and a member of the QFC board, said, "Ms. Abbot's clothes and accessories are fascinating, becoming more complex the longer you look at them. We think she has a bright future in this industry."
Ms. Abbot, as well as top runners-up Jedda Ryan, Hayden Noe, Megan Danner, and Kevin Naylor, will receive a range of support services from the council. |

To: Lewis Knutson <[email protected]> From: Victoria Pickard <[email protected]> Date: March 15 Subject: Randall Park Project
Hi Lewis, Now that we have selected the project for Randall Park, we need to get started on the planning. I would like to sit down with the director and assistant director of the parks and recreation department sometime this week could you arrange that? We need to get an accurate map of where the jogging path will be installed. Once a tentative plan is in place, we can begin advertising the project and collecting bids from construction companies. I believe this project will be an excellent use of the grant funds we received. However, I'm worried that the process will be much lengthier than citizens expect. We'll have to hurry if we want it to be ready by the end of the summer. Please keep me posted on your progress. Thanks!

Hello, I'm writing on behalf of the Swiss Organization of Dentists. Our annual conference will be held close to Bern Lake in June, and I'm in charge of organizing the closing dinner. It will be an informal event for us to unwind at and have fun together, so I thought it would be nice to have it on the lake. There will be about 40 of us. Do you have a boat big enough to handle that many people? I would also welcome any tips you have about accommodations.
Thank you, Chloe Blosser Swiss Organization of Dentists |
From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Subject: RE: Inquiry Date: January 15
Dear Ms. Blosser, Thanks for getting in touch! Our operation certainly has a boat that can suit your needs. Could you let me know the exact date in June you'll need it? As far as your inquiry about accommodations goes, I know that the Laguna Lodge has some openings for that time frame, while the Brand New Sunset Hotel may be a less pricey option, if it's not fully booked already. Let me know what you decide, because depending on which one you choose, we may be able to make bookings for you at a discounted rate.

Making the World a Better Place
(August 4) Though corporate social responsibility is becoming more important to consumers around the world, some companies are finding that giving back can be tricky.
Pinflash was embarrassed last year when a Charity Monitor report gave its main charitable partner a "D" rating because of its lack of impact. Similarly, Dunne Galloway recently ended its relationship with an arts nonprofit because of a disagreement over accounting processes.
This is why Peter Gandy started Giveler, a for-profit company that tries to make corporate giving as easy and efficient as possible.
"We do it all," says Mr. Gandy. "We help businesses choose a cause to support, connect them with a reputable charity or nonprofit organization, handle the donation logistics, and supply publicity tools."
In the two years it has been in business, Giveler has served over one hundred corporations and estimates that its clients have donated roughly three million dollars to various causes.
Among these successes, Mr. Gandy says he is most proud of Rickard Paper Co.: "We set up a program in which a tree is planted for almost every stationery product they sell. Not only have 56,000 trees been planted so far, but the publicity from the program has led to a 10% bump in Rickard's sales. That's the kind of mutually beneficial relationship we want for all of our clients and their partner organizations." |
From: Samuel Akagi <[email protected]> To: Janelle Hawn <[email protected]> Subject: Potential partners Date: August 24 Attachment: Nonprofit Review
Dear Janelle,
It was a pleasure to meet you yesterday. As I promised then, I'm now sending you an overview of our process for connecting corporations with partner charities and nonprofits. I believe it will relieve the concerns you mentioned about experiencing the same setback as Dunne Galloway.
In addition, here are some organizations that we think might be a good fit for Weatherford Pro: - Kirchner Foundation - Operates free rural summer camp for kids - Green Now! - Lobbies government to expand national parks - Withrow Society - Protects endangered animals in a variety of habitats - Mission Clean - Removes garbage from beaches and oceans
The Web site of each one is linked in its name so that you can learn a little more about them. If some questions come up or you feel ready to make a selection, just e-mail or give me a call at 555-0186.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Campbell, I think Mr. Pritchard will be a great tenant. I will do as you asked. Once the contract is signed, what else needs to happen before Mr. Pritchard can move in? And thank you so much for your hard work in showing the house and screening candidates. You know, when I moved to Sillannon, I was nervous about leaving my old house in the hands of a property management company. I nearly decided to sell it instead. So far, though, your services have made me glad I didn't. I will be more than happy to pay your company the promised 6% of Mr. Pritchard's monthly fee for the peace of mind that it affords me.
Thanks, Dora McLaughlin |
