Dear Martino Health Foods Customers, Our owner, Dino Martino, and the rest of the Martino Health Foods team have enjoyed serving you at our location on Harrison Street for the past five years, but it is now time for a change. Ever since we expanded our range of stock to include organic groceries, we have been struggling to keep up with demand. You may have noticed that checkout lines continue to get longer, and we can barely cope with the number of downtown orders we receive per day. Therefore, we will move to a larger building in the downtown core on July 1 so that we can increase our stock volume and serve our customers more efficiently. The new and improved Martino Health Foods will be situated at 411 Thrush Drive. Rest assured that all customer memberships and rewards will remain valid and unchanged. Further details regarding the move will be provided via our monthly newsletter. If you do not already receive the newsletter, please visit the customer service desk to subscribe. Thank you! |
PLAYSMART TOYS, INC.
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
Playsmart has become aware of recent reports and rumors that one of our toy ranges is made using low-quality materials and workmanship. These stories have understandably led to many customers contacting us to ask whether the toys are truly of inferior quality, and in some cases, demanding a refund. — [1] —. The range in question is our recently-launched Galaxy Pirate toy line, which includes action figures and vehicles from the animated television show of the same name. Rumors have been circulating online that the toys are manufactured abroad and break very easily as a result of poor construction and cheap plastic. This has resulted in a noticeable drop in sales, and several Web sites have even removed our advertisements for the range. — [2] —.
‘While it is true that the toys are produced at a plant overseas, Playsmart works in close collaboration with the plant operators to ensure that high-grade materials are being used and proper manufacturing steps are being adhered to. — [3] —. We can unequivocally state that the toys are professionally assembled and highly durable. This morning, we have posted a video on our Web site that shows the entire manufacturing process for the Galaxy Pirate toys. — [4] —. We guarantee all customers that Playsmart remains fully committed to producing the best toys on the market. |
From: Chinenye Umeh To: All Employees Subject: Employee referral bonus Date: June 29
Hi everyone, Now that we have to quickly expand our workforce as a condition of the funding we received from Ribdins Group, it seems like a good time to remind all of you about our employee referral bonus program. This entitles employees to a $500 bonus for a successful referral for an open position. If you are interested in participating, please regularly check the “Jobs” page on our Website.
Note that it is very important that you only recommend candidates that have all of the qualifications required for the position. We instituted the new tiered payment system at the beginning of this year to cut down on the number of unhelpful recommendations. As you might remember, it entails issuing the bonus to the referrer in stages:
See page 28 of the employee handbook for more details on the program, including instructions on how to submit your referral. For any issues not covered in the handbook, you may call (ext. 233) or e-mail me.
Thanks, Chinenye Umeh Director of Human Resources Patondo Technology |
Leah Young [1:04 P.M.] Do you have a moment, Wade and Ursula? Management just told me about two new destinations they have chosen for us to cover in our next European Explorer travel books —one country and one city. Wade Corbin [1:08 P.M.] Great! What are they? Leah Young [1:10 P.M] They want a full extensive guide for Luxembourg and a pocket-sized city guide for Venice. Ursula Eriksson [1:11 P.M.] Oh, I've spent a lot of time in Luxembourg, and it's an amazing place. Leah Young [1:14 P.M.] Definitely. So, we'll be sending two field researchers to Luxembourg from May 1 to June 29, and one to Venice from June 1 to June 30. We'll receive all of their notes in the first week of July, and then we'll have approximately one month to edit the information before the scheduled publication and launch dates. Ursula Eriksson [1:16 P.M.] That gives us plenty of time. And I can start designing the layout for each publication this week so that we're all prepared for the editing stage. Wade Corbin [1:22 P.M.] I'm not sure that's wise, Ursula. Remember the Bulgaria book? Ursula Eriksson [1:23 P.M.] Good point, Wade. I'll wait to see exactly what Management wants to be included this time. Leah Young [1:25 P.M.] That sounds good. All right, I'll give you more information after my meeting with Management tomorrow. |
Winners Announced for This Year’s British Architecture Awards
LONDON (15 December)—Fifty extraordinary structures chosen from around 250 shortlisted candidates have won the prestigious British Architecture Awards this year for the most innovative architecture by British architects or foreign architects with offices in Britain. Now in their twenty-second year, the British Architecture Awards are jointly presented by the London Museum of Architecture & Design and the British Centre for Urban Planning & Art. They recognize the architects of exceptional contemporary structures that shape our lives in a wide variety of ways, including skyscrapers, corporate headquarters, bridges, park pavilions, hospitals, private residences, and academic institutions.
Among this year’s biggest winners were Simon Thorpe for Maitland Street Car Park, a stunning 9-level, 768-space car park with various eco-friendly features in Central Manchester; Marcus Fryer for Horizon Bridge, a breathtaking 195-meter-long pedestrian bridge uniquely equipped with 4,500 blinking LED stars synchronized with music; and Isobel McDuff for The Spire, an elegant 28-floor apartment building with a heated rooftop swimming pool that is located near Edinburgh’s busy shopping areas.
As in previous years, because of the sheer number of winners, the awards were given out over the course of three evenings and three ceremonies from Friday, 12 December to Sunday, 14 December. The opening night saw the awards presented in the Corporate and Commercial categories, Saturday's awards were for the Residential and Urban Planning categories, and the final night recognized those in the Institutional category. Maitland Street Car Park made history by being the first structure to win its architect two awards in the same year: one in the Urban Planning category and the top honour, Most Innovative Design of the Year. |
To: Len Goldman <[email protected]> From: Mi-Lyung Choi <[email protected]> Subject: SparkLite Fire Pit Date: September 6
Dear Mr. Goldman, I was very excited to receive the information pack for your latest patented invention. The SparkLite Fire Pit seems fantastic and is certainly a product that we would be highly interested in making available in Summit Sports & Camping Stores. We love its portability and solar charging option. — [1] —. However, I do have a few questions about its design. First, would you mind clarifying how the air jets pump oxygen into the wood fire? — [2] —. Also, the information pack outlines how the fire intensity can be controlled via smartphone app. Which operating systems is the app compatible with? — [3] —. While I would very much like for you to answer those quick questions at your earliest convenience, I would also like you to visit our headquarters in person with one of the fire pits. As I am sure you know, our executives prefer to see new products in use firsthand before approving a contract to purchase and sell them. We would be grateful if you could attend a meeting at 2 p.m. on September 13 at which you would be allotted one hour to showcase the device's functions and capabilities. Based on the product specifications and photographs you sent me, not to mention the popularity of your camping stove and multifunctional cooler, which are still among our top sellers, I am confident that we will choose to stock the SparkLite Fire Pit. — [4] —. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely, Mi-Kyung Choi Head of Purchasing Summit Sports & Camping |

Castellente Storage Company Reviews
I rented a unit from Castellente to store my belongings in when I had to move to Germany for a six-month study program. My experience couldn't have been better. First, I wasn't sure how much space I needed, so their representative kindly explained the options without pressuring me. She also made sure I understood the terms of the rental contract before I signed it. And when I brought over my stuff—a bed, a dresser, some small appliances—the worker on duty offered to help me unload it and organise it all efficiently. Six months later, everything was right where I'd left it, safe and dry. Castellente is an excellent self-storage facility.

Hello, I just purchased a subscription to your concert hall after having a wonderful experience at a recent show. Now I’m trying to purchase tickets for an upcoming performance that isn’t included in my subscription. Charleston Central Museum
Claims Prestigious Honor
by Jill Bradford
MERRITT (April 20)—Charleston Central Museum was awarded the Scientific Literature Award at the first-ever Midwestern Arts & Science Awards ceremony on April 18. Put on by the Midwestern Knowledge Foundation, the event took place at Washington Convention Hall in front of an audience of around 6,000 members of the arts and science communities.
Charleston Central Museum won the prize for the detailed and entertaining information pack that supplements its exhibition “The Invisible World: Microorganisms.” Lead designer Yui Takahashi accepted the award and thanked graphic designer Raymond Schlupp, who provided many of the pack’s illustrations. She also promised that the pack would be publically available on the new version of the museum's Web site, which is currently under construction.
“The Invisible World: Microorganisms” was conceptualized by scientist Thomas Ellson, who enlisted the knowledge and expertise of architect Fiona Watson to construct the exhibits. The exhibition has been a tremendous success for the museum, with ticket sales topping those of all previous exhibitions. After its run there comes to an end, it will be transported to neighboring Georgetown to be displayed at Georgetown Science Institute for approximately two months.

Dear Ms. Bradford, I was initially happy to see your recent coverage of Charleston Central Museum’s success at the Midwestern Art & Science Awards. However, as I read through the article, excitedly waiting to see my name in print, I found that my work had been mistakenly attributed to Fiona Watson, who merely served as an advisor to me during the process. This was very disappointing. I encourage you to carry out more thorough research for future articles. Sincerely, Kevin Shaw |

To: Angel Munoz and 3 others From: Lynne McKinley Date: May 3 Subject: Global Craft Festival booth Attachment: Schedule, Festival Map
Hi all, Thanks for agreeing to represent Lynne’s Tacos at the Global Crafts Festival this weekend. In addition to following the instructions on the attached schedule, please note that there will be a city-issued food safety checklist that the early shift workers must fill out, and that the late shift workers on Friday and Saturday must carefully store the food and lock up our booth. The actual food sale period will start a half hour later and end a half hour earlier than the shifts, so we should have plenty of time for these tasks. If we start to run low on supplies before the dinner rush, if the gas grill stops working (which has happened before), or if another problem comes up, please contact me or Grady, who will be managing the restaurant all weekend. Thanks, Lynne |
