Welcome to Beatmore Castle, the ancestral residence of the Earl of Grantham.
Before you set off on your self-guided tour, please take a look through this brochure, which contains a route map and offers insight into the history of the 50,000-acre estate.
Inside, you will find descriptions of the castle interior, the gardens, and the various works of art on display throughout the building. As an avid art collector, the Earl of Grantham owned several important artworks, which you will have the pleasure of viewing during your tour. The castle ballroom contains valuable paintings by Laundseer that exemplify the classic Renaissance-era style, and postcard versions of these pieces can be picked up in the gift shop at no cost.
All works are maintained by the Grantham Trust, a non profit organization whose members are dedicated to the preservation of this extensive collection. If you feel inclined to make a donation to the organization, please e-mail Margaret Herring at
