  • Arrange the following ratios in descending order. 2 : 3, 3 : 4, 5 : 6, 1 : 5
Question 1:
Arrange the following ratios in descending order. 2 : 3, 3 : 4, 5 : 6, 1 : 5
A. 5 : 6 > 3 : 4 > 2 : 3 > 1 : 5
Feedback Given ratios are 2/3, 3/4, 5/6, 1/5

The L.C.M. of 3, 4, 6, 5 is 2 × 2 × 3 × 5 = 60

Now, 2/3 = (2 × 20)/(3 × 20) = 40/60

3/4 = (3 × 15)/(4 × 15) = 45/60

5/6 = (5 × 10)/(6 × 10) = 50/60

1/5 = (1 × 12)/(5 × 12) = 12/60

Clearly, 50/60 > 45/60 > 40/60 > 12/60

Therefore, 5/6 > 3/4 > 2/3 > 1/5

So, 5 : 6 > 3 : 4 > 2 : 3 > 1 : 5
B. 5 : 6 > 3 : 4 < 2 : 3 > 1 : 5
C. 5 : 6 < 3 : 4 > 2 : 3 <1 : 5
D. 5 : 6 < 3 : 4 > 2 : 3 <1 : 5
