  • A jar contains 24 marbles.
Question 1:
A jar contains 24 marbles. Some are red and others are white. If a marble is drawn at random from the jar, the probability that it is red is 2/3, then the number of white marbles in the jar is:
A. 10
B. 6
C. 8
Feedback Let the number of white marbles be x.
Since only two colour marbles are present, and total probability we know of all the events is equal to 1.
P (white) = 1 – P (red)
x/24 = 1 – (2/3) = x = 8
So there are 8 white marbles.
D. 7
